Megan + Steve’s engagement session needed to reflect their playfulness, and Megan has a love of nostalgia and all things retro, so a silly shoot on roller skates at the local roller dome was the perfect setting.
Megan + Steve have been waiting to find each other for a while, and in that wait, they stuck true to their personalities. When they met and throughout their relationship, they knew just how important it was to be exactly who they were – the two goofiest people in the world. They’re a fantastic couple, constantly making each other giggle until it becomes a full on belly laugh. Their engagement session needed to reflect their playfulness, their ease with themselves and around each other. Megan has a love of nostalgia and all things retro, so a silly shoot on roller skates at the local roller dome was the perfect setting.
We started our shoot at a drive-in diner next door, where these two shared a strawberry milkshake and some more genuine giggles. Steve enjoys yacht rock, so I set my speaker loud and we all enjoyed the humid, pink Indiana air, post rainstorm. After they finished their ice cream, we hit up the roller dome to get their skates! Steve used to be a hockey player, so he was pretty comfortable whipping around the floor, where Megan was a bit more unsteady at first. Slowly but surely, and after a solid fall that caused lots more laughs for the three of us, even Megan got the hang of things and eventually, the two of them were gliding under disco balls like they were made for it.
I always encourage my couples to make their engagement sessions into a date as much as possible, if they can, because you’re truly your most YOU when you’re relaxed and with your person. I love connecting with you and being goofy right alongside you – it makes for some great photos every time.
